Karen is knowledgeable in digestive issues, colon hydrotherapy and nutrition. While desperately searching for an end to my fight with candida, I found Karen’s website and was hopeful. I met with her to discuss it and I later did her 5-day cleanse program with daily colonic therapy. After almost a year of battling candida and experiencing the after-effects of digestive issues for the majority of my life, I FINALLY felt better. Let’s be honest, the cleanse isn’t cheap or fun and the colonics can be awkwardly weird but she makes you feel comfortable and tries to help you any way she can which makes the whole experience worth it. The difference between how you feel before and after a colonic is truly astounding. The one day I walked in not feeling well – dizzy, hot, irritable, bloated, and overall negative – and I left happy, energetic and feeling fantastic. I practically skipped out of her office! After my cleanse, I felt like a whole new (and healthier) person. I also appreciated how she worked with my schedule and her daughter even saw me when she was out of town once. Thanks so much, Karen!
Nature’s Reckoning: What goes up must come down, and what goes in must come out.
In August, on Friday the 13th, I got this insane idea that I wanted to do a “Body Cleanse/Body Detox”. My thoughts were that I had never really done a complete Body Cleanse and that it could do a Body good.
You see, I’m a Baby Boomer, and I’m fast approaching (or perhaps I’m already there and don’t know it or better yet won’t admit it…) middle aged-ness. My thoughts were that I should give my “old body” a good head start as I enter into my Golden Years. Honestly, I am truly having a hard time admitting that 60 is just a few short years away…
But back to the story…I decided that if I was going to do a Body Cleanse/Detox, that I was going to do it the right way. I was going to enlist the assistance and guidance of a Health Care Practitioner. Notice I don’t say an M.D. as this is I suppose somewhat of a New Age-y type of thing. A Holistic type of thing to be more exact.
I enlisted the services of Karen Million ( I would have loved to have her last name when I was hot to trot in the Real Estate Market a few years back) who has an office out at Lake Travis. Her office from the outside has this warm down home country look about it…covered white porch, hanging plants and 2 white wooden rockers. How inviting; beckoning you to come on in, sit down, relax (as if) and get a Colonic! Ha, the irony of it compelled me to snap this photo!
The plan was simple, sort of. But it was a plan and I think that is important if you want to succeed at anything, you must have a Plan! I will try to be delicate, but some of this is not pretty….(Pretty is as Pretty does reminds me of a Forest Gump truism!).
Basically, for 7 days, you drink a ton of cleansing herbal type stuff that tastes so bad you want to gag, throw it up or both! It’s called Pacha Mama which you can mix with water and apple juice, but that does not help the situation one little bit. Since you are cleaning stuff out of your system, you have to put back in around 500 Supplements daily (I exaggerate ever so slightly) so you can survive and not throw your system completely out of whack and into shock. Not only does Karen provide you with all the supplements, antioxidant drinks, protein drinks, and a wonderful nourishing hot spinach soup to help you stick with the program, she also gives you written instructions so you can maintain a schedule. The point is you won’t stick with it if you are starving.
Now here comes the FUN part…you have to have a Colonic on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 7th day. I’m not kidding, that is absolutely the crux of “The Big Plan”. Karen does the Colonic at her office and she works weekends to make certain you get your Colonic. She wants to make certain that what you are attempting to cleanse out of your body does not seep back into your body, hence the multitude of Colonic’s.
I will say without any trepidation, that it was not easy, it was hard, really really hard. I was tired and had to take naps on the 2nd and 3rd days, I treated myself with kindness. On those days, I think I would have paid $500 for a Hamburger, I just wanted to eat, to chew, to taste yummy food with my family. But stuck with it I did. On the 6th day, I started feeling pretty darn good. I had energy, and the next two days flew by, I came back to the Land of the Living! I made it out alive!
How you might ask? By making a personal commitment to myself, dedicated to the proposition of Health for Myself. It’s that simple. As a Mother and a Wife, I nuture everyone else first, for once I nurtured me, first!
A bonus, as it turned out, was that I lost 6 lbs. in that week. My tummy is now as flat as a flitter, for the first time in a long time, I’m ashamed to say….I felt lighter within my body, and less agitated, less anxious, less willing to argue about who left the toilet seat up (we know who did that, eh ladies?).
I was proud of myself and I think I shall make Body Cleansing/Body Detox an annual occurrence. Only you can make the choice and decide if it is right for you. It was for me!
If so, check with your Physician first and then Get a-Cleansing, Get a Colonic and Get Healthy!
